This weekend it’s been raining, snowing and cold again so we’ve done lots of chores, food prep and work on Baby K’s nursery.
The rug is not quite flat yet so we stretched it again and pinned down the corners under furniture. It relaxes when it’s humid but obviously, it’s been quite cold and dry since moving in most days! I bought cheap rugs for the kids’ rooms from Wayfair and no regrets since they’ve already gotten all kinds of stains and spills 😛 I’ll save the nice wool rugs for when they’re all potty-trained and don’t drop every second drink they bring up to the bedroom.
We assembled a cube shelf from IKEA for baby toys, books and stuffies–hoping this will help keep K’s things from being absorbed into the general toddler messes upstairs and down!
We picked up the Laz-Boy chair that we had in our old living room, from my dad’s house where he’d been storing it. I love the vibe that it adds to the room, classic and permanent. It’s very comfortable too.
I have been pleased with the new dresser/changing table and crib so far. I learned my lesson with cribs, they must be unpainted or the chew marks will show up very fast once babies can stand! No more white cribs for us. The dresser has a good storage capacity for all of K’s clothes, sheets/covers and cloth diapering supplies at the moment. I like that the changing topper is removable so it will grow with him into childhood too.
Overall I like the more neutral/modern aesthetic of our new nursery. Our first one was cute and cozy, and very “me” when I put it together at 23/24–but my style has changed over the years and this is a better fit now.
The last pieces I’m looking for are a little side table and lamp to go beside the nursing chair, and also some things to go on the walls. I have one Winnie-the-Pooh painting but would love some other classic/gender neutral things. Oh, and we have curtain rods and curtains, but have yet to hang them! Hopefully this week.
What’s a home project you’ve worked on lately?
I really hope this is the last of the winter weather until the end of the year. I bought our pool passes this week, little e and I started some sunflower seeds indoors and Eric is planning all kinds of fun little boy things to do this summer… camping, baseball games, swimming lessons etc. We are all so ready for the next season!
