Continuing on with the “mildly controversial inspiration” theme, today’s feminine inspiration is The Darling Academy. She’s British and was in the news over there frequently a year or two ago, as she champions family values, traditional living, and generally speaking the stay-at-home mom/wife lifestyle.

Hello, friends! Sorry to be sparse around here lately–between Hawaii, jet lag and this crazy week (catching up on cleaning and so many appointments), I haven’t found the time or energy to write.

I’ve been having some odd health things lately that actually mirror some of my younger son’s health problems (unexplained circulatory stuff and joint hypermobility) so we’re looking into potential causes for that with a rheumatologist. And I’m trying not Google things because I get all sorts of stuff like connective tissue disorders and cardiovascular diseases… and those don’t sound very fun at all. 

Yet I’m torn because for little A’s sake, I want a diagnosis for him. We have seen 14 specialists in 14 months (and counting!) and we still have no answers for his weeklong hospitalization, ER visits, motor delays, BEH, GI and sensory problems. Whenever we are referred to one specialist, it’s like opening a box to find the answer, only to find another box (another specialist referral) which contains another box, and so forth… and whilst I’m not acutely concerned about his health right now, it does feel like we will go on having a spate of minor issues until someone can solve the problem.… Read More »

Things got busy this week, and I haven’t had a chance to write for a few days! But I’m back with another bit of feminine inspiration for your weekend.

A few years ago I read the (somewhat controversially named) book French Women Don’t Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano, and I fell in love with the idea of Euro-style eating. Now, that isn’t to say all Europeans eat exactly as described in the book… but having visited Europe several times myself, there’s definitely truth to the idea that eating across the Atlantic is an elevated experience compared to American dining.… Read More »

A quick note before I get into this post: if you’re looking for some of my personal life posts on the blog, I’m feeling a bit protective of our family’s privacy right now so those are private. I might re-publish in the future! It’s hard to strike a balance and draw boundaries between what’s my kids’ lives and what’s my life, and sometimes I reevaluate and change my mind.
