Summer is definitely my least inspired season, personally. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve sat down to write a blog post lately and have just stared at the blank screen, feeling absolutely NO inspiration or ideas whatsoever. Happy Friday and happy long weekend to US readers! We have great plans for this weekend. We’re celebrating my grandpa’s birthday, going canoeing and for a cookout with my dad, and heading to the zoo. I’m really looking forward to it as Eric hasn’t had a day off in a while.

I think April and May are busier than Christmastime when you have kids. Usually I feel as if I have, like, three friends (and that’s great, I’m an introvert lol) but somehow I have about seventy-six social obligations in two months’ time once the weather turns warm.
Also I’ve just been feeling like I’m waiting lately. There are so many exciting things coming up in our lives, not just at the beginning of summer but also this fall and winter, and I feel like I just can’t wait sometimes. I always struggle with staying present and not thinking the grass is greener six months from now, you know? But I know that’s a perpetual struggle for a lot of people, not just myself.

When your toddler has the sniffles and says “[Girl in my preschool class’s name] was sick so now I’m sick”… you know you’re in for a long week. Thankfully we’re all on the mend now but it’s been a few days of apple juice, crackers, and long naps over here.
