Next weekend we’re headed to our fourth family photoshoot with our favorite family photographer. (Family and friends–if you’re in the Twin Cities, we can’t recommend Lauren Kirkbride Photography enough!) After a few years of wrangling littles for a family photo (or ten), Eric and I have some tips about how best to prepare… and how to adjust our expectations versus taking photos with just us.… Read More »
What I Ate Wednesday {10.17.2023}
If that’s not a throwback title, I don’t know what is 😛 #bloggersgonnablog #ifyouknowyouknow
Lately I’m enjoying Instagrammers and bloggers who are posting old school stuff… simple unfiltered snippets of days in their lives, random thoughts and really just anything that’s “in the moment.” I don’t want to see a synopsis of your child’s NICU journey in 30 seconds with inspiring background music or “useful” content that’s 10 slides long (with the last slide selling your book/product/whatever). Or sponsored content on blogs that’s just one long ad with no personal touches.
I’m craving real, authentic connection. And since I don’t have much time for social media/blogs anyways, I’ve become pretty ruthless about paring down what I consume!
Anyways–back to this post. I’m taking things old school for the day and sharing my meals and snacks from yesterday! I’m always curious about what other people eat, so here’s a peek into my life for you :)… Read More »
The (Updated) Twin Cities GF Restaurant Guide
Hello friends, we are having one heckuva week with a nap-fighting baby and a surprise trip to the ER yesterday (don’t worry… everyone’s fine… allergic, but fine). Hence, no new posts to share!
I did update our Twin Cities Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide the other day as it was pretty outdated–written over four years ago, and there have been lots of changes to our local restaurant scene since then. It gets a fair bit of traffic, so it needed to be revisited! I’d love to know any of your recommendations in the comments too, as I’m always looking to expand the circle of places that Eric, and other celiac blog readers, can safely eat.
Hopefully there will be no more surprise medical issues this week and I’ll be back on Friday with our Life Lately!
xx Claire
Why Weekly Family Rituals Are Important (for Parents & Kids)
An area that my parents excelled at during my childhood was weekly rituals. Those bits and pieces of our weekly schedules that happened every week, no matter what–whether it was certain meals, activities, or even lack of plans/free time.
In elementary school, I always loved getting out of school on Fridays because I knew it was Pizza Night (well, breadstick night for my picky self) at our house. And, my sister and I would get to play uninterrupted for a couple of hours after dinner whilst our parents chatted over wine. There would be jazz music playing, the smell of pizza dough rising in the bread machine when I got home, the house would be tidy and ready for us to enjoy the weekend.… Read More »
How to Host a Stress-Free Meal (with Kids)
Happy first week of school, everyone! I have two kids in preschool now and I’m loving getting back into a routine. I’m someone who thrives when we’re busier and have more structure in our days–it feels like the time flies in a good way, and of course fall is my favorite season.
Something Eric and I have worked on this year is getting more comfortable with hosting family and friends for meals. We don’t have a “host x meals per month” quota or anything like that, but I’ve tried to seize the opportunity to invite people over for food when the moment seems right.… Read More »
