Hello, friends! I’ve unbanned myself from my computer this evening–I’ve stuck to pen-and-paper journalling lately–to write an actual blog post. I have 18 minutes before I need to do some yoga, have a snack and “hit the hay” as my mom would say, so it will be brief 😛 … Read More »
Living a Balanced Life: Use It Up, Wear It Out…
…Make it do or do without. I am full of inspiration to be thriftier and in the process more eco-friendly, as I’m reading a wonderful book right now called The Simple Home.
We cook (mostly) from scratch, take hand-me-downs, use up our food stores/art supplies/toiletries etc, and try to buy sales for everything from food to clothing to home improvement items. But there are many ways we could live a more frugal life and make better use of the money and resources available to us.… Read More »
A Day in My Life: Spring 2023
I find myself SO interested in the daily lives of other moms lately. I am always looking for ways to streamline and make things easier, to make more time for the things we really love to do or fun new projects. We get along pretty well but it’s difficult to imagine adding more kids (which I would love) without turning our lives upside down–so organizing and simplifying are the priorities for this year.
Here is roughly what today looked like for us, for example. Every day is a bit different as we have OT for one child which varies by the week, and preschool for the oldest is only twice a week, plus other commitments to family and friends.… Read More »

One of my favorite principles from the book is peu à peu, or “little by little.” When aiming to lose weight, be more active or have a better relationship with food, the best changes are the ones that build up slowly over time–not the “drop 15 pounds in 6 weeks!” gimmicky tricks.… Read More »
How to Become a More Positive Person
Happy Thursday! Eric is taking the day off as I’m fighting a nasty sinus infection, and I’ve committed to spending as much of the day in bed as possible. I actually took a nap (!) yesterday evening and slept 8 hours (?!) last night so hopefully all this rest will clear things up.
Lately I’ve been thinking about how to be a more positive person, inside and out. Especially at this time of year—when life feels like a revolving door of preschool viruses, bad weather and long to-do lists—it’s easy to get bogged down. To feel frustrated with life, like there is no forward motion and nothing to look forward to either. The mindset is no good.… Read More »
