Somehow the first month of 2023 is already over–and we’re headed into the coldest month of the year here in Minnesota. (And right on schedule, as I’m writing this post, I see a dip into subzero temperatures on the forecast this week… yay. Not.)
We had an extremely busy yet productive January, and some of our new favorite purchases helped life run a bit more smoothly this month. So let’s get into the January 2023 favorites!
Favorite kitchen gadget: This mini coffee machine! I bought Eric a small coffee maker and accessories for his birthday a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve been using it daily since then. We both only drink a cup or two a day so the small size is perfect–no coffee wasted at all 🙂
Favorite decor: I bought a bouquet of flowers at the grocery earlier this month, as props for shooting some photos for my Basic Invite post. I forgot just how lovely it is to have something bright, green and fragrant in the house this time of year. I am personally not a houseplant person (like I need any more lives to take care of at the moment!) so cut flowers are perfect.
Favorite new supplement: It’s not exactly new to me as I used to use it years ago, but I’ve been taking BioKult probiotics lately and they’ve really helped with my reflux. Cheap probiotics have never had any benefit for me, but these ones are worth the investment.
Favorite baby products: The DermaFrida + Happy Cappy shampoo and lotion. My kids always have the worst itchy cradle cap at 3-4 months old. This cleared up Baby K’s head with about a week of daily use. Not the crunchiest remedy ever but super effective!
Favorite nursing aid: I ordered myself the breastfeeding box from Agni (it has lactation cookies + tea) and yum. So good. Between the tea, cookies, a magnesium supplement and adding back in a “dream feed” for K, his weight gain is back on the right track and we are still exclusively breastfeeding! Longest I have done so with any baby so far 🙂
But let me know in the comments: your recent favorite hot drink? I’m loving the tulsi cinnamon tea (and of course the necessary daily coffee) but also searching for other nursing-friendly teas. I’d like as much of my hydration as possible to come from tea in the winter 🙂
I hope your 2023 is off to an excellent start. Spring will be here before we know it, for us northern hemisphere folks anyways!
xx Claire
