It’s not quite to the end of the month yet but since I haven’t posted in now over a month… let’s do a little catch up!
Battling lately: The tail end of my pneumonia recovery (I was sick for almost the entire month of July before we found an antibiotic that worked) + also writer’s block. Y’all, I think I have 12+ drafts of posts right now where I sat down, started writing and ran out of steam 3-4 paragraphs in. Bloggers know the feeling.
Celebrating lately: My college best friend’s wedding to the most delightful person. It was a gorgeous barn wedding in rural Minnesota with incredible South Asian food. The weather was cool and breezy, the Carleton company was top-notch, and the vintage table settings made my old-fashioned-decor-loving heart sing. Need I say more?
Visiting lately: The local pool, the library, the playground, the nature preserve. We’ve enjoyed the cooler weather in the past couple of weeks after a hot, humid July.
Projects lately: Several. One of the fun ones being putting together my kids’ fall wardrobes 🙂 While I try to get as much as possible secondhand, I can’t find everything we need, so I went on a little shopping spree at Columbia (for kids’ outdoor gear–love their sales), Little Planet Organic (for clothing) and we picked up a couple odds and ends at Target too (since little E unexpectedly needed new sneakers and pants). Shopping for kids’ clothes is WAY more fun than shopping for myself, lol.
Reading lately: All the books! I’m at 25 for this year so far. Most recently I’ve enjoyed:
- North: How to Live Scandinavian, by Brontë Aurell
- The Old Magic of Christmas: Yuletide Traditions for the Darkest Day of the Year, by Linda Raedisch
- The Danish Way of Parenting (which is extremely popular in the parenting world right now–and I get why!)
- Organizing for the Rest of Us, by Dana K. White
Looking forward to: We have tons of family and friends from out of town around right now, so there’s lots of catching up to do. That’s this weekend and next week!
Autumn… always looking forward to autumn this time of year. I’m ready to get out my sweaters, jeans and boots now, please and thank you.
Letting you in a few secrets we’ve been keeping lately, soon, in September and October ;P
What’s new in your world lately? Celebrations, projects, things you’re eagerly anticipating?
xx Claire
