It’s about 4:30 in the afternoon and it’s already twilight outside here. Does anyone else feel more tired this time of year, whether or not it’s cold out? It was actually 63F this afternoon, and I’ve been out quite a bit (two walks to and from preschool, gone to the library and done preschool pickup too) so it’s definitely not the weather or even lack of outside time. I feel like I could hit the hay right now though!
Anyways, we’ve again had a busy busy week so let’s chat about all the recent things!
Christmas shopping lately: I’m nearly done shopping for the kids and done shopping for my SIL/her family and for my sister. I’ve even wrapped most of the kids’ gifts that have already arrived. Quite impressed with myself, actually!
Last week I thought I was done with their stockings–then I saw that StoryPod has PAW Patrol and Daniel Tiger crafties and I couldn’t help myself, haha 😛 I’m actually done now… probably.
Christmas decorating lately: I’ve got our advent calendar all ready to go and we bought outdoor Christmas lights at Target last weekend. This weekend is decorating weekend and the weekend after Thanksgiving we’ll buy our tree.
Outings lately: Last weekend we drove up to Hansen Tree Farm in Anoka for our annual family photo session. (You can read my photo session tips here if you need some!) Unfortunately when we got back, one kid spiked a 102F fever and had a horrible night of sleep–but we got our photos done and I can’t wait to get them back.
Food loving lately: My recent favorite breakfast of scrambled eggs with mushrooms and goat cheese, crispy bacon and an orange. I don’t photograph it because the mushrooms make the eggs look grey and gross lol. But I love a good protein-packed breakfast! I’m leaning into lower-carb breakfasts some mornings and I really feel the difference in my energy levels. (Note, low-carb not no-carb because I’m not about to turn into a crazy person who refuses to touch bread.)
Wondering lately: When I’m going to make it back to the library to work on some freelance writing. It seems like January is the most likely answer…
Weekend plans: Christmas decorating, Christmas shopping, brunch at my mom’s, errands. I’m looking forward to Eric taking Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off next week for a super long weekend. Hard to believe we only have two more November weekends and then it’s the holiday season!
How have you been preparing for the holidays lately?
