I’ve come around to the fact that normal life with little kids is just always busy. When you’re little, it feels like the days, months and years pass slowly. But when you’re a mom, you blink and it’s Friday once again, even though Friday feels like yesterday. You only just get into your daily routine for the academic year, and then the end of the year is on the horizon and things change all over again.
Crazier yet is with five people in our family–and my parents, brother and family nearby–it feels like someone is ALWAYS celebrating a birthday. Eric’s was last week, little A’s is next week (2!), my brother and mom’s birthdays are in March and so on.
Anyways–here’s what we’ve been busy with lately!
Reading lately: I reread 30 Chic Days to start off the year, then 100 Ways to Declutter Your Home. I hope Fiona Ferris comes out with a new book soon, because I think I’ve pretty much read them all now! Currently I’m working on Fast Like a Girl. Not because I do intermittent fasting but because I’m a wellness junkie 😛
Milestones lately: Baby K is trying so hard to roll from back to front! He’s already mastered front to back. He’s also grabbing everything in reach and stuffing it in his mouth lately, which means I have to always be watching closely. Oh, also the 4-month sleep regression is alive and well over here–fun times.
He’s also back on the right track for weight gain after some serious efforts by moi to increase my milk supply. I added back in a dream feed, started lactation tea & cookies, got more consistent with taking magnesium and upped my protein intake. Who says breastfeeding is free?! Haha.
Cooking lately: One of my new year’s resolutions was to bake every week and I’ve been sticking to it so far! Mostly muffins: banana carrot, chocolate banana and blueberry almond butter are all hits with the toddlers so far. Last week we also had spice cake for Eric’s birthday 🙂
Procrastinating lately: Ordering a box of sample frames from Warby Parker + then ordering new bifocals. I know some people say pregnancy ruined their teeth/hair/nails–for me it’s my eyes! Girl needs to correct her astigmatism and distance vision (I’ve only ever worn computer glasses in the past).
Weekend plans: This weekend little e + my dad are going on an afternoon adventure, Eric and I (and baby of course) have a date night, and a friend is coming over on Sunday.
Blogging lately: In the past couple of weeks I’ve shared a couple of product reviews–reviewing the StoryPod and my review of Basic Invite’s wedding invitations. And I’ve got some fun content planned for February, so stay tuned for more self-care and femininity inspo in upcoming weeks!
What are you reading, cooking or procrastinating on lately?
xx Claire
