Happy Friday! How did this week treat you? We’ve had quite a productive one so far with appointments, school & home projects.
Tomorrow is date night and Eric and I have a hot date at… IKEA, to pick up some odds and ends we’ve been needing a while ;P Maybe I’ll even grab a cinnamon bun for myself. I miss those gluten-free buns from Baker Hansen in Oslo sometimes.
But let’s talk about the week that was.
Health lately: I’ve mentioned being sick and feeling off quite a bit recently. Fatigue (even with good sleep), joint pain, dry skin, catching every cold the kids bring home, and sugar cravings. Overall just not like myself. As it turns out I’m severely iron deficient! I’ve had low iron without anemia before and unfortunately it’s not something that shows up on a regular blood test.
Luckily I convinced my doctor to order an iron panel and yep–I’m way below the bottom of “normal.” My supplement is on its way and hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon. If not, I’ll need an iron infusion but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
Home projects lately: We finally got a big print packaged up to send to Framebridge. I got it for free off Buy Nothing a while ago. Unfortunately since it’s so large and non-standard dimensions, it needs a custom frame job. But now we’ll have it back and be able to hang it in a few weeks!
We’ve also booked a deep cleaning for our house for the weekend and I am SO excited. I’ve fallen behind with cleaning thanks to my low iron (I’m often napping while the kids nap these days) and I hate a dirty house. The relief I will feel to see it clean and sparkling again!
Reading lately: The Chic Closet by Fiona Ferris. I’m very into the idea of upping my style game lately, as it’s not something I’ve given consistent effort since having kids. Has anyone ever had their “colors done” or worked with a personal stylist, and wants to share their experience in the comments?
Your girl does not have an eye for fashion, but I’d love to feel like I’m not in college anymore style-wise 😛
Planning lately: We are finally making firm plans to visit Sydney next winter! I’m pulling together our Sydney bucket list (it’s been growing for nine years at this point) of things we can do with the littles. So far we’ve got:
- Visiting some of the GF bakeries around town (we don’t have any real GF patisseries here)
- Taronga Zoo
- Sealife Aquarium
- Swimming at a beach (after seeing a few clips of Bondi Rescue… maybe a more relaxed beach than that haha)
- Riding the trains (the boys are obsessed with trains and we don’t have public transit here)
- An easy hike in the Blue Mountains
And I’m sure it will keep growing. We haven’t taken a vacation for vacation’s sake since before kids which is totally crazy. We have only traveled to visit family, attend weddings or move since our honeymoon. Am I ever ready for a couple of weeks off!
xx Claire
