Actually, I love rainy weather. But our backyard is covered in soggy leaves that need to be raked. We need the lawn to dry out so that we can clean up!
This week has been full-on. My in-laws left on Tuesday morning, we’ve had three doctor’s appointments, two kindergarten info sessions, a trunk-or-treat, preschool, and nonstop wet weather to work around too. I wanted to share a blog post on Wednesday but had no time to finalize it before then. Needless to say, we’re taking it very slow this weekend.
But let’s chat a bit more about the week that was!
Outings lately: On Saturday, we did our usual errands, I had a brow wax (it had been wayyy too long), and then we hit the nature center/play area after nap time. On Sunday, we went out for pancakes with the in-laws, then spent the rest of the morning and lunch at the zoo. Monday morning we had some extended family over and then met the in-laws at the library in the afternoon.
That was just the weekend… and then we went straight into another school week with zero down time. Mama is feeling crispy.
Home improvement lately: Not necessarily improvement but we did get the front yard raked over the weekend. I also ordered a rug for our basement because Birch Lane was having a good sale. $300 for a large area rug aaand that’s a wrap on rugs for our house! Until Mr. 4-year-old moves down to the basement bedroom next year, but that’s a whole project I’m not even thinking about yet.
Cooking lately: No new recipes, but I did make a batch of my chocolate chip oatmeal cookies last week and a pan of my pumpkin oatmeal for breakfasts this week. Yum.
Wondering lately: If it’s actually going to snow tomorrow?! It was 65F on Monday. Minnesota needs to figure out its life this week.
Focusing lately: On saying no more–including to myself. Because my first few years of parenting were completely antisocial (thanks pandemic!) I’ve found myself saying yes to just about every opportunity that comes my way lately. But with three kids’ worth of opportunities, plus my non-parent connections to consider… that adds up to way too much pretty fast.
So here’s to saying no more, so that I can give enthusiastic yeses to my favorite people and activities–instead of being too burnt out to enjoy anything.
Thank goodness it’s Friday! (This week, that deserves to be spelled out.) What are your plans for this fall–or in some places spring–weekend?
