Happy Friday, friends! We have a packed ahead with errands, appointments and oh yes–my in-laws visiting too. This morning I’m off to the doctor’s for a blood test and then it’s time to clean (I love a clean house on Friday evenings), get outside, and then prepare for family pizza night with Grandma & Grandpa tonight.
This is MEA Weekend here in MN–basically teacher in-service days for most of the week–so there was no preschool on Wednesday or Thursday. We’ve played all the games, done all the crafts, read all the books and so much more. Mama is definitely ready for the weekend 😛
But let’s chat about life lately!
Reading lately: How to Look Expensive by Andrea Pomerantz Lustig. Like French Women Don’t Get Fat, it’s one of those books you shouldn’t judge by the title (which is rather silly-sounding). It’s chock-full of good budget beauty advice and all about working with what you have, not trying to look like someone you’re not.
Cooking lately: Butternut squash banana blender muffins are my new favorite recipe this week. They’re so good that I made them once on Sunday, then another batch on Monday because I had more leftover squash. They are sweet, spicy and perfect for a healthy breakfast.
Buying lately: Some shirts on sale from J.Crew Factory because all of a sudden I have two tops with holes, and one that must have accidentally gone through the drier because the sleeves shrunk a couple of inches? Anyways, I got two slub cotton v-neck tops (my absolute favorite–so flattering) and this striped top. I had been eyeing it for a while, and managed to snag it for just $12 😀
Like I said… I’m all about looking expensive, not being expensive.
Silliness lately: Why must people announce that they’re unfollowing someone on social media? Seriously–if you’re going to unfollow someone, just do it… they’re not going to miss you (unless they’re your best friend or husband perhaps). I thought Camilla was quite brave to share her faith story on Instagram this past week, but some of the comments on her post were unnecessarily nasty 🙁
Excitement lately: I managed to reserve a spot in ski lessons for my oldest (and Eric, as it requires a parent) this winter! They’re both so excited. I’m not a skier, although I’ve been a few times to local hills and then skiing in Breckenridge with Eric in 2014. But Eric is from Colorado so it’s in his DNA, and he wants to pass that love on to our kids too.
Looking forward to: Honestly? Sleeping! Your girl is tired after this week.
What’s on the docket for your weekend?
xx Claire
