Somehow it’s already Friday again and here I am writing another Life Lately post! I’m squeezing it in between little A’s dentist appointment, cleaning out my inbox (slash dealing with all the emails I’ve put off responding to for two weeks #oops), and a virtual dinner with Eric’s parents. Because for me blogging is like writing a bike–the more I do it, the more I will do it.
We’ve had an incredibly busy and productive week (and I already recapped some of the productivity here) so let’s chat!
Self-care lately: I finally got my hair cut for the first time since September 2020, when I donated 10″. It was again long, ratty and in desperate need of a trim, and it feels so fresh and not-tangly now. I also got my brows waxed (but luckily for everyone I HAD done that a few times since 2020 haha).
Rae at Juut Edina is a brow genius if you’re local and need a rec… I’ve been seeing her since 2012 and she always does a fantastic job.
Little A lately: We had our pediatric dentist appointment today to check for lip and tongue ties that could be contributing to his feeding delay, but nothing major was found. So we’re officially onto the bigger tests at a national clinic now!
Other productivity lately: On Wednesday and Thursday whilst the nanny was here, we cleaned two bathrooms, did a bunch of budgeting/filing/bill-paying, rebooked an appointment, Swiffed the upstairs hardwood, and finished assembling/attaching to the wall little E’s dresser and bookshelves.
Plans for this weekend are deep cleaning the kitchen and continuing to search for contractors for our summer house projects, and then we should be prettycaught up on life!
Socializing lately: I got to chat with my lovely friend Kristy (over video) in person for the first time! She has the cutest little guy who was so patient and content while we chatted.
Cooking lately: This fudgy chocolate cake and these turkey burgers were standouts this week! The burgers are great in buns or sandwiches with all the toppings, or with any combination of roasted veggies/salads/grains. And honestly just all on their own with a slathering of avocado oil mayonnaise… they’re just that good.
Writing win lately: One of my short pieces was accepted by a new magazine for publication! Even though it won’t be up for a while, I eep!-ed when I got the email. Well on my way to my freelancing goal for this year.
But on that note… can anyone who freelances please agree with me… that filling out tax forms is the biggest downside to freelancing? I get so stressed about messing things up and thinking someone is going to get annoyed with me!
What’s one of your wins lately (in any area of life)? And what are your plans for this weekend? Saturday is the start of little E’s new swim lesson and we’re going to see my dad and little brother for a belated birthday celebration!
