Happy Friday and happy long weekend to US readers! We have great plans for this weekend. We’re celebrating my grandpa’s birthday, going canoeing and for a cookout with my dad, and heading to the zoo. I’m really looking forward to it as Eric hasn’t had a day off in a while.
Anyways, let’s chat about life lately. I haven’t been blogging much lately, but hope to return to it this summer after we get our new, preschool-less rhythm down.
Sleep lately: I’ve had the worst time sleeping this past week and often can’t fall asleep until close to midnight. No idea why the sudden shift! Baby K has also been waking up early sometimes which doesn’t help. If my kids all napped at the same time, I’d be taking naps too.
Low-tox living lately: I’ve been on the fence about ordering a plastic-free French press and (almost) plastic-free coffee bean grinder lately, in addition to Swiss-water processed decaf coffee beans. I finally purchased all three and I’m super excited to try out my new setup this weekend!
Lately I’ve noticed so many articles about BPA, BPS, PFAS and all the other carcinogens in plastics. It seems like the truth is coming out about the toxicity of so many of our everyday products. I’m in the mood to replace our stuff with nontoxic, natural alternatives and I’ll definitely be writing about that on the blog!
Looking for lately: A healthy alternative to my beloved Burt’s Bees face moisturizer. Any suggestions? I used to use Radiant Balm from Sunfolk Apothecary, but it’s rarely in stock (in fact I’m not even sure she makes it anymore). So I’m on the hunt for a new product that’s good for thin, sensitive skin.
Enjoying lately: We’ve put a lot of work into almosttt finishing decorating our living room. We still need a couple of rugs and a couple of candles–and that’s about it. I’m taking a page from our Norwegian apartment and keeping it very minimal. More space to live in, less to clean. I also picked one of those big, rounded-over Nordic lamps for our floor lamp since there was one in the apartment. It feels very homey and cozy 🙂
June plans: Little e’s first time going to a friend’s birthday, a wedding, the local pool opening, a massage for moi… Also Father’s Day celebrations, picnics, swimming lessons for the older tot, gardening, lake time and just being outside! Summer is wonderful here.
Hope you are enjoying summer (or, I suppose, winter if you are in the southern hemisphere) and all the joys of the new season!
xx Claire
