Happy April and almost-Easter to those who celebrate 🙂 I’m looking forward to our low-key holiday this weekend: Easter baskets and a chocolate egg hunt for the kids, brunch with my mom in-person and sister virtually too. And whatever the weather is right now, it MUST get warm soon so there’s that to look forward to as well. *Looks away from window so I can’t see the freezing rain and snow*
March was a big month of moving and settling into our new house so naturally, I made plenty of purchases. Many of them were boring, like curtain rods and an electric drill… but some were not totally dull, so I shall share them here 😛
Favorite recipes: Starting off with the freebies, the toddlers are loving this healthy zucchini slice recipe, banana buckwheat muffins (I bought a large bag of buckwheat flour a while ago and now I need to use it up haha), and healthy nutty granola. The last recipe is a little sweet for us so I do cut the syrup to a scant half cup per batch, and I add dried fruit after baking. We’ve been baking almost every day lately!
Favorite kitchen purchase:Â These large glass Rubbermaid food storage containers. They are perfect for muffins–one container fits eight–and also for granola, a double batch of the granola recipe above fits perfectly into two. I might order a second set because they’re so handy.
Favorite frivolous purchase: A subscription to Victoria magazine! I’ve wanted to get one for a while and finally did it. It will definitely bring me $30 of joy in the next year.
Favorite book: I loved A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century, and then I fell down the rabbit hole of the authors’ back stories. Wow. The whole story is such a throwback to 2015-16 Carleton shenanigans. Protesting a tweet. Community Conversations. The “woke” ladies who vandalized the entrance to our dorm. If you know, you know! If you enjoy politically (in)correct small liberal arts college drama–which I’ll admit is quite a specific niche–Google the authors’ names and enjoy.
Least favorite purchase: I usually don’t include dislikes but this was funny fail. I ordered one of those electric nose vacuums that was recommended by an Instagram influencer, because my kids run screaming from the NoseFrida when they’re sick. Well, they were probably more traumatized by the nose vacuum, which also didn’t work. Lesson learned… toddlers just hate getting their noses cleared, it doesn’t matter what you use 😛 I’ll stick with the cheap NoseFrida from now on.
What’s one of your March favorites?
