We’re only halfway through the year, but I’ve somehow already met my goal of reading 20 books! I’m rather impressed with myself.
Part of the reason I’ve read so much this year–as I told my therapist–is that I’ve given myself permission to only choose books that feel like self-care to me this year. At this exact moment I love lighthearted nonfiction books about domesticity, femininity, minimalism, organization, and the occasional parenting book.
I used to avoid reading because I felt like I had to read the hottest novels, the “important” political/cultural books du jour, or something else that would otherwise prove I’m literate and educated. But how silly, honestly! Better to read for pleasure, no matter the subject material. My college diploma will continue to exist (rather uselessly, LOL) in a box in the basement whether I read philosophy or housecleaning tips.
Anyways, here are my favorite books so far from this year. I hope you can find a light read that interests you from this list–or feel free to share your favorite books of 2022 so far, in any genre, in the comments!
- Raising Good Humans: A Mindful Guide to Breaking the Cycle of Reactive Parenting and Raising Kind, Confident Kids, by Hunter Clarke-Fields
- Thirty Chic Days: Practical Inspiration for a Beautiful Life, by Fiona Ferris
- At Home with Madame Chic: Becoming a Connoisseur of Daily Life, by Jennifer L. Scott
- Polish Your Pose with Madame Chic: Lessons in Everyday Elegance, by Jennifer L. Scott
- The Joy of Less, A Minimalist Living Guide, by Francine Jay
- Dwelling: Simple Ways to Nourish Your Home, Body, and Soul, by Melissa Michaels
- The Perfectly Imperfect Home: How to Decorate & Live Well, by Deborah Needleman
A bit of parenting, a lot of chicness/femininity, a dash of minimalism, and a pinch of home decorating. We’re keeping it light, positive, and inspirational around here in the world of books.
I know it’s a bit odd, I haven’t posted in two weeks and suddenly I’m back with two posts back to back! I’ve been extremely busy and while I’ve journaled a lot, most of it hasn’t been fit for the blog. That should be changing soon as we wrap up a few home/personal projects!
Hope you’re enjoying your summer (how is it already halfway over?!) and I hope to hear from you in the comments!
xx Claire
