We’ve had a bit of a thing for these applesauce spice bars in our household going back several years. I actually made them for the first time it as a junior in college, as I sandwiched recipe-creating sessions between organic chemistry homework and my work-study jobs. (Goodness, I am so glad to be done with college!)… Read More »
Our Wedding Day: The After-Party

It’s time for the final wedding day recap! Today I’m talking about what we did after the wedding, as our reception ended at 4:30. Each of our families–E’s family, my mom’s side and my dad’s side–hosted their own family reunion dinner of sorts. However, we opted for a more casual after-party with our college friends. Originally, we were going to try to hit all three family gatherings, but that seemed like a crazy and not very relaxing evening.

Camping in Wild River State Park, MN
We went camping last weekend for the first time in forever! The last time we camped was on our way out to California in 2017… that feels like a long time ago. Our wedding food was my favorite part of the reception for sure! (Okay, the people were the best part. But the food was a close second.) We hired a local, organic Twin Cities caterer who adapted their menu to make everything gluten-free for E. They were our biggest budget item, and I’m so glad that we prioritized good food. It reflected our healthy foodie-ness, and the food was fresh and beautiful and totally delicious!… Read More »
Our Wedding Day: DIY Wedding Decor

Our wedding decor wasn’t a priority when it came to budgeting. But that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t meticulously planned and executed by yours truly 😛 Our reception venue was basically a “blank slate”–they provided tables and chairs and nothing else. So it was up to me to make the space look beautiful! My theme was an “English garden party-esque reception.”… Read More »
