Hi friends! Even though I don’t share weekly updates on the blog anymore, I thought it’d fun to continue sharing a few highlights every month, starting with my favorites from this September. Just to keep that little human touch that I personally love in blogs 🙂
September has been quite a busy month for us. We’ve spent a lot of time with family, trying new toddler activities for our not-quite-toddling little dude, and working on miscellaneous home projects before it gets cold. Because winter is already on the way… and the time of year that generally makes me want to move back to California, to Australia, to the Amazon rainforest, really anywhere warm. In the meantime, we’re enjoying the rest of the summery weather here in Minnesota!
Anyways, let’s get onto my September favorites!
Things I Made:
- So many Southern In-Law recipes! We’ve enjoyed creamy chicken and rice soup, ham and cheese egg bakes, taco quinoa bakes, spinach and feta/goat cheese muffins, and healthy brownies in the past couple of weeks.
- Thrive Market’s gluten-free pumpkin muffin mix. I’d give it a 7/10–very similar to Simple Mills mixes, a bit grainier texture but better balance of spices.
- All the stovetop popcorn made with coconut oil! After swearing off canola oil a few years ago, I thought I’d have to stick with my air popper forever. But it turns out coconut oil works just fine as a substitute, and it makes delicious popcorn!
Things I Bought:
- A new-to-me purse from ThredUp. I seriously needed a larger purse but have been holding out for the perfect Kate Spade bag (I love the style). I finally found one on super sale, $62 vs. $398 new, so obviously I had to buy it ;P The color also matches my laptop case and makeup bag, which makes this type A girl very happy.
- A couple of shirts from Blair Lamb Design. I bought a bunch last year as Christmas gifts plus one for me. They are incredibly cute and comfy!
- A new roof. A boring but necessary purchase, which will feel nice to have done after the contractors finish next week.
Things We Did:
- Two mini sendoff parties for my sister, who left for grad school abroad. A pizza party at my dad’s and a socially-distanced backyard happy hour with extended family at my mom’s!
- Little E’s first socially-distanced toddler class at the community center. It’s a bit different than usual, outside, with moms wearing masks and toddlers running amok with toys and things to climb/ride. It’s still fun!
- I cut and donated 10″ of my hair.
- Eric and I (re)watched the first Harry Potter movie last week. It’s such a fun movie, especially in the fall!
Looking for Recommendations:
Drop your suggestions in the comments, please!
- A good hair balm to prevent split/dry ends
- A super effective (but non-prescription) hand cream for our dry winters! My hands are already cracking and it’s only September. My normal Burt’s Bees/Aveeno lotions just aren’t cutting it this year!
Hope your autumn (or spring) is off to a good start despite COVID. Tell me one of your September favorites in the comments!
