A lot of homemaking is like that. You set the dishwasher to run. You pop some hand washing in the tub to soak. You make an appointment to have the air conditioner serviced… next week. You water your garden and wait for the seeds to grow. You vacuumed the entry, but someone tracked dirt inside two minutes later. Your friends need to reschedule a playdate. Paper clutter… the bane of every homemaker’s existence. We receive more every day in the mail, kids’ backpacks, art projects made at home, etc. Paring down to the necessities feels almost impossible due to the sheer bulk of paper we receive and store in our homes.

Well, this weekend hasn’t exactly gone as planned. Eric and the boys are enjoying a brunch with family at my mom’s house right now–but I am sick at home. I woke up on Thursday with the slightest tickle in my throat and by Friday it was a full-blown cold. I/we had to skip library story time with friends (K was still sniffling), coffee with my dad on Friday and now brunch. Blergh.
Happy first week of school, everyone! I have two kids in preschool now and I’m loving getting back into a routine. I’m someone who thrives when we’re busier and have more structure in our days–it feels like the time flies in a good way, and of course fall is my favorite season.
