Happy Friday! It’s the end of the week again and we’re winding down for a truly relaxing weekend here. Somehow between Saturday errands, a trip to the apple orchard down in Northfield, hosting brunch and catching up on yard work, last weekend left me feeling like I needed a weekend after my weekend.

Something that’s surprised me about the kids being back in school this year is how much more social interaction I am getting as a result. It almost feels like I enrolled myself in a part-time class on getting to know other parents, volunteering to bring x or y and participating in family events throughout the year.

It’s a positive change overall, since my first three-ish years of parenting were done essentially solo (thanks to the pandemic and us being the first of our friends to have kids). Happy Friday! I think when the days feel short, the weeks feel long–and when the days feel long, the weeks feel short. This was a looong day, short week kind of week in our house! Older tot had morning camp, we had plenty of doctor’s checkups and house projects among other things. I’m tired and time has flown.

Summer is definitely my least inspired season, personally. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve sat down to write a blog post lately and have just stared at the blank screen, feeling absolutely NO inspiration or ideas whatsoever. (I mean, entertaining three kids all summer will also do that to you–but I swear it’s something about the weather and long days, too.)

Happy Friday and happy long weekend to US readers! We have great plans for this weekend. We’re celebrating my grandpa’s birthday, going canoeing and for a cookout with my dad, and heading to the zoo. I’m really looking forward to it as Eric hasn’t had a day off in a while.
