I’m writing this post surrounded by the hubbub of three small children and a dog whilst Eric heats up leftovers for dinner… so apologies in advance if it’s not the most coherent thing. My usual Friday post did not make it to the blog yesterday because we were doing something a little different: closing on a new house! Our current lease is up in a couple months and we happened to find a house that’s perfect for our family 🙂 It’s similar to our old house but with a few differences that make it better suited to our lives now. (Buying and selling your first house is definitely a learning experience, isn’t it?)
One of my favorite parts is that our new house is a short walk from my mom’s. Little e is asking me when he can walk to Grandma’s by himself… I told him three is a little young yet, but it will happen soon enough.
And I’m excited to have a little more space–not too much, I learned from our last house that I don’t want a huge space to furnish and clean #lazy :P–and be able to personalize it too.
Now, it just needs to be spring so we can get to gardening and enjoying our new backyard. Of course I already have grand plans for raised beds, berry bushes, some kind of playhouse for the kids and a grill/dining setup for summer nights. The weather here just needs to follow suit!

Yay! We had a week of junky colds/respiratory illness and then a week of stomach virus in the family, but we are finally better. I’m excited for a relaxing weekend to recharge and work on some home projects!

I’ve come around to the fact that normal life with little kids is just always busy. When you’re little, it feels like the days, months and years pass slowly. But when you’re a mom, you blink and it’s Friday once again, even though Friday feels like yesterday. You only just get into your daily routine for the academic year, and then the end of the year is on the horizon and things change all over again.
Crazier yet is with five people in our family–and my parents, brother and family nearby–it feels like someone is ALWAYS celebrating a birthday. Eric’s was last week, little A’s is next week (2!), my brother and mom’s birthdays are in March and so on.

Happy Friday! This week felt looong… serious TGIF vibes today! Little e is starting skating lessons tomorrow and we have an otherwise cozy, homey weekend planned with yummy breakfasts, healthy baking and some work projects for both of us.
