We’ve been passing around the same cold as last week and I think we’re almost through it now. Only K has a bit of something still, caught over the weekend–hopefully we can shake it soon. Last week was fairly dull as a result!

I love rainy days. Thanks to our extremely odd not-really-winter this year, we’ve been having plenty lately–it’s actually raining right now! Of course it’s not really spring because it’s not like the grass/trees/plants are growing in February, but it’s close enough for me.
Quite a while ago, I wrote a post called Call Me Weird, but I Hate Hot Weather. It’s actually one of the top posts ever on the blog, which is random 😛 but I have to say, I totally renounce my love of winter (Minnesota winter anyway) now.
It’s all fun and games, and you can imagine you’re roughing it out in the beautiful snowy wilderness… until you have kids. Then it’s inconvenient at best.
Especially now that we are more involved in our local community (via preschool, next year elementary school, the library, the community center etc.), I feel like winter has completely lost its romantic edge for me, and now it’s just a pain.
At the same time… it’s the price we pay for living in a state with a low cost-of-living and high quality of life. Plus, my mom lives 5 minutes from us and my dad lives 15 minutes away. C’est la vie!
Until the ties that hold us here change, I think we will probably continue to suffer through our usual winters. Perhaps adding in a warm vacation midwinter to lift our spirits (and vitamin D levels). And I will continue to browse Australian/New Zealand news instead of American election news, and channel my inner southern hemisphere muse in my everyday life! A little daydreaming never hurt anyone 🙂

Good afternoon! The two youngers are napping, E and e are at a ski lesson and I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so I’ve confined myself to the couch until my headache goes away at least. It’s 45 degrees and beautifully sunny out, and the birds are singing like it’s spring–so it’s not all bad!
Last weekend we stopped by Goodwill with a few items that we no longer needed. A shower caddy that kept falling off of the shower head, an easel my kids didn’t use, an old side table. The bags contained an assortment of Eric and my clothing that didn’t fit properly and some hand-me-downs for the boys we’d been given that didn’t suit them. I took a glorious eight-week break from social media in December and January. When I finally logged back onto Facebook and Instagram, I realized that I had some digital “decluttering” to do in order to have a sustainable relationship with social media going forward.
First, there were the 20-something Facebook groups that I was a part of. Some of them were blogging-related and mostly ads/engagement threads that I never participated in, so I left them. Last week and this week have simply not been great. There’s been a lot of stuff going on and plentyyy of preschool viruses on top of that–we’ve been to the doctor several times over the past few weeks for respiratory illnesses, junky coughs, etc. Just can’t seem to shake it! I feel like someone gets better and then another one of us gets sick on repeat.
