The big day is under eight weeks away, so here’s my last wedding planning update! (Here are my one year out update and 4.5 months out update if you’re curious.) We did a lot to prepare this past weekend and I’m feeling good about it, so now seemed like a good time to write a post 🙂
Recently Accomplished
Decor:Â I’m just about finished finding the materials for my DIY’s. I’m making a few signs and all of the table centerpieces myself. The wedding party is helping me put together floral arrangements the day before! And two of my bridesmaids are making the photobooth. I’m very grateful for the help!
Hair & makeup trial:Â I had it on Friday and I absolutely adore my hair and makeup artists. They’re so friendly and were so responsive to my feedback. I loved what they did and I’ll be asking for something very similar on the actual day.
Alterations:Â I took my dress to the shop on Saturday and we got it all pinned up for alterations. I’m excited to try it on in a couple of weeks and see what it looks like when it actually fits!
Final To-Do’s
My bridal shower: is this weekend! I’m excited to spend an afternoon eating yummy food and playing games with family and friends 🙂 My mom and her friend are taking care of nearly everything. I’m just making a few printouts for decorations, which is fun for me. Can anyone else just get lost in graphic design for hours?
The ceremony:Â We need to make some choices about verses and such for the ceremony. We’ll have a meeting with my church’s wedding coordinator in a couple weeks to finalize the details.
Marriage license:Â After our final meeting with my pastor, E needs to take a half-day off from work so we can go apply for one!
Timeline:Â We really need to walk through the morning of the wedding and write down the who/where/when/in what car details for everyone. We have six people staying at my mom’s house the night before the wedding and six more coming at various times in the morning!
And to top it off, the city just tore up my mom’s street a couple of weeks ago. It won’t be repaved until late summer and no one is allowed to park in it while they’re working–not that they’d want to because there are huge gaping holes everywhere. So parking will be, er, interesting? Bad timing, guys… this will be something we’ll laugh about later, I’m sure!
If you’re married, what’s something that went awry during your planning that you laugh about now? And if not, what’s something you accomplished this weekend? Big or small!
