Oh… hi! I’m, uh, back? And want to write about wedding stuff even though I said I didn’t want to do that anymore? I realized that I really enjoyed writing about our planning process and missed it so I wanted to drop in with an update. I also scrubbed my old wedding posts of names and made them public again, so there’s that. If you want to read freely about how E and I met, how we found my engagement ring, my wedding dress shopping or anything else, you can do that now 🙂
So, I can’t tell you much yet, but this time next month, life is going to look a lot different. We’re making a huge life change just four months out from our wedding. I’m over-the-moon excited, nervous, and pretty stressed out about it, all at the same time. There’s so much work to do! (For the record, I AM NOT PREGNANT. No, no, no, heck no. No buns in the oven for a few years, sorry!) I can’t wait to let you in on the secret, but that will have to wait for a couple of weeks from now.
I’ve always have a hard time blogging when there’s a big part of my life that I have to hold back. It feels as though I’m being dishonest, almost? But that’s silly–this is my blog, not my journal. Long story short: wedding stuff!
Recent Accomplishments
Alterations: My dress came in when we were in Minnesota a little over a month ago. I picked a seamstress in the Twin Cities and booked my first appointment for May! My dress doesn’t need too much work done, however, I’m three sizes smaller in the bust than the rest of my body, so that needs to be taken in…
Bridal shower: My mom’s best friend is hosting and we’ve been talking logistics lately! I want something small and laid back with just a few family members, family friends and (of course) my bridal party. It will probably happen in June! I’m not having a traditional bachelorette party, so this is my big female get-together to look forward to 🙂
Flowers:Â I followed up with our florist to make some changes and clarifications to our contract. Turns out our original consultant left the company without telling me…? Anyways, everything’s all set now!
Need to Do Soon
Invitations:Â I’ve picked stationary but need to finalize the wording and order a sample.
Decorations:Â IÂ need to get on this, haha. I’ve decided to make my own centerpieces with silk flowers, paint my own signs, etc. I need to order tablecloths, cake table supplies, and ask my bridesmaids if/how I can help with the DIY photobooth (that they generously offered to make). And figure out an outdoor game or two, since our venue includes some space outdoors? LOTS to do here!
Shoes:Â Picked out, but I need to order them. I’m getting these ones from Blue by Betsey Johnson (provided that they’re decently comfortable when I try them on). They’re totally dreamy!
Eric’s outfit:Â We found a suit for E when we were last in MN, but we need to order it soon. He needs a shirt and new shoes, too. Then I need to take a swatch of bridesmaid dress material to Macy’s and find a coordinating tie for the guys!
Rehearsal dinner:Â I need to finish collecting my family’s entree orders and figure out the seating chart (significantly not fun when you’ve got multiple divorced couples attending…). Eric’s parents need the details soon!
After these things, it’s really just down to the little details like bridal party gifts, figuring out where to hold the day-after brunch, etc. Thank goodness for small, relaxed weddings, because I don’t know how I’d manage if we were holding a formal wedding for 300! I have nothing but admiration for couples who do.
But tell me, past brides… Am I forgetting anything major? What did you put off until the last minute and wish you hadn’t? And if you’re not married, what do you want for your future wedding? Big, small, casual, black tie?
